We're immensely fortunate and grateful to have had the support of great bitcoin builders even before we launched. They've been building wallet apps alongside our work on the Bark SDK, providing feedback and helping us refine the DX along the way.

Importantly, they've ensured we have apps ready to go right from day one.

Today, we're showcasing the two most polished of those apps so far: Noah and Arké.

Noah (iOS and Android)

Three screenshots showing examples of the Noah UI

Noah comes from Hampus and Nitesh, the team behind Blixt, the self-custodial Lightning wallet known for running a full lnd node directly on your phone. They've spent years building wallet software that doesn't cut corners on self custody, and that experience shows in Noah.

Aside from including all the essential Ark and Lightning features, a standout is their solution for self-custodial Lightning addresses on Ark. Payment requests to the address are relayed to your phone, which generates the invoice itself, so keys never leave your device. And thanks to some Ark-Lightning wizardy, a Noah user paying another Noah user's Lightning address can do so entirely offline and at no cost.

Under the hood it's React Native and Expo, with the Bark SDK wired in through Nitro modules and a Rust backend handling accounts, notifications, and backups. The whole stack is MIT-licensed and open source, and it's a great place to get your first taste of transacting on Ark.

Arké (iOS)

Three screenshots from the Arké app, each more stylish than the last

Arké is the work of Christoph Ono, a driving force in the Bitcoin Design Community. Over the years, Christoph has made countless contributions to the Bitcoin Design Guide and Bitcoin UI Kit, a catalogue of open-source UX patterns for bitcoin wallet apps. With Arké, Christoph wanted to get as much of this into the app as possible, while pioneering new patterns for Ark specifically.

Thanks to the great design, whatever you came to do in Arké, you can get there in as few taps as possible. Complexity is kept well-hidden, but power users still get an X-Ray view to inspect what the wallet is doing underneath.

Arké takes a unique approach to using integrated video to guide new users through the app—not like anything we've ever seen in a bitcoin app (actually, any app!).

The app is built in SwiftUI over our FFI bindings, so it feels super slick and iOS-native. Bark's bundled BDK wallet handles on-chain operations.

Quirky and fabulous, download it now.
